This Is The Will Of God

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Everything that happens to God’s children is His will. Nothing is left to chance. Sometimes we like His will but sometimes we don’t. It is sometimes difficult to understand God’s purposes and give thanks for the things He allows or causes that we do not like.

1 Thessalonians 4:3: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

The sad fact is that our flesh will never want to be set apart for God. When our flesh wins the battle and we are not in God’s will He chastens us for His glory and for our good.

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

His chastening is evidence of His love for us.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Our flesh would rather skip over the chastening but God knows when it is necessary and exactly how much of it we need. Some helpful truths to remember:

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
